Private Parties — Dots by Lina
Private parties · Greater Sacramento

Everyone leaves with
something they made.

A dot art party for your group — birthdays, showers, team days, girls' nights. I bring everything, walk every guest through it, and nobody needs a single minute of experience.

Nobody believes they can do this. Then everybody does it.

That's the whole reason these parties work. Dot art looks beautiful from the very first dot, so there's no awkward hour where people feel bad at it — just a room going quiet, then loud again, then quiet.

How it works

You pick a date. I handle the rest.

Two to three hours, start to finish. The only thing you're responsible for is the guest list.

1

Tell me your date

Email me with roughly when, roughly how many, and where you'd like to do it. I'll confirm availability and give you a firm price.

2

We choose the project

Have something in mind? I'll build the class around it. Not sure? I'll send you a few options to pick from.

3

I arrive with everything

Paints, tools, surfaces, worksheets, and enough of it all. You don't shop for anything or set anything up.

4

Everyone makes a piece

I teach the room and move between guests the whole time. Everyone goes home with something finished.

Good for

Better than another dinner reservation.

The groups that book these tend to have one thing in common: they've done the restaurant thing, and they want the night to be about something. Three hours of making a thing together does that in a way a table for twelve doesn't.

Pricing

One flat price. Everything in it.

You book the party, not a head count — so if someone drops out the night before, your price doesn't change. Two to three hours depending on the project.

Group sizeAt your placeAt my studio

Up to 16 guests$1,600Studio included

Groups of 12 or more are at my studio in Fair Oaks, with the space included at no extra charge — there's room for everyone, the light is already right, and nobody has to move their furniture. Prices shift a little with the project, since some pieces take more prep on my end. Travel is included within 20 miles of Fair Oaks; beyond that we'll work out something fair.

What's included

You genuinely bring nothing

  • Paints, dotting tools, and surfaces for every guest
  • Practice worksheets so nobody starts cold on the real piece
  • Me, teaching the room and moving between guests the whole time
  • Your choice of project, or a few options from me
  • Every guest picks their own colour palette
  • Setup and cleanup

No two pieces leave looking the same, which is the part people are always surprised by.

What you provide

If you're hosting at home

  • Room for everyone to sit comfortably around me
  • Good light

That's the entire list. A dining table and a bright room is plenty. If your space doesn't work — or you'd rather not host — we'll use the studio in Fair Oaks instead, which has a full coffee bar and cocktails. Studio dates do fill up, so come with a couple of options and we'll find one.

The studio, if you'd rather not host

The Crafted Canvas in Fair Oaks — room to spread out, light that's already right for close work, and a full coffee bar and cocktails without anyone having to play bartender. For groups of 12 or more it's included in the price.

Before you ask

The questions everyone has.

Do any of us need experience? +
None at all, and most groups have none. Dot art needs patience and a stylus, not talent — if you can hold a pen, you can do this. We start on practice worksheets so everyone gets comfortable before touching the real piece.
What will we actually make? +
That's up to you. Past groups have done trinket dishes, trinket boxes, tea light holders, pebble vases, and seasonal pieces. Tell me what appeals and I'll build the class around it, or I'll send you a few options with photos so you can choose.
Can we drink? +
Absolutely, and most groups do. At your place, bring whatever you like. At the studio there's a full coffee bar and cocktails. Dot art is forgiving — a wobbly dot just looks like a slightly different dot.
How long does it take? +
Two to three hours depending on the project. That's enough time for everyone to finish a piece they're happy with, without anyone's hand or attention giving out.
What if we're more than 16? +
Email me and we'll talk. Sixteen is where one teacher can still give everyone real attention, but larger groups can sometimes work with a different format. I'd rather tell you honestly what's possible than squeeze a room.
Can we take the pieces home the same day? +
Yes. Everyone leaves with their finished piece. I'll tell you how to care for it while it fully cures, which takes a few days.
How far will you travel? +
Twenty miles from Fair Oaks is included, which covers most of the Sacramento area. Further out is usually still doable — we'll just agree a travel fee when you book.
How far ahead should we book? +
Earlier is better, especially for weekends and anything near the holidays. That said, it's always worth asking — sometimes a date is open.
Booking

Let's find your date.

Parties are arranged by email so I can confirm the date, the project, and a firm price before you commit to anything.

Email me

I answer personally, usually within a day or two. There's no deposit or payment until we've agreed the details.

If that link doesn't open your mail app, just copy the address. You can also DM @dots.by.lina on Instagram.

Include these five things
  1. Your date, or two or three that could work. Flexibility helps a lot with studio dates.
  2. How many guests, roughly. An estimate is fine at this stage.
  3. Where — your place or my studio. Include the city if it's yours.
  4. The occasion. A fortieth birthday and a work offsite want slightly different energy.
  5. Any project ideas, or say you'd like options and I'll send some.

I'll come back with availability, a firm price, and a couple of project suggestions. No obligation at that point — plenty of people ask and then book for months later.

The party people still talk about a year later.

Two or three hours, everything provided, and sixteen people who didn't think they could do this.
