Lina painting dot art at her desk by the window

You don't need talent. You need someone showing you where the next dot goes.

Every artist whose work you admire had a piece that sat unfinished for months. The difference is usually one conversation — not another ten hours of video.

The piece you keep not finishing.

A course can teach you every technique and still leave you sitting in front of one particular board with no idea what to do next. That's not a knowledge problem. That's the moment you need someone looking at the actual piece with you.

The board that's been primed on your table for three months.
The palette that looked beautiful in your head and muddy on the surface.
The mandala that went wrong on ring four and you can't tell why.
The 24-inch piece you want to make and quietly don't believe you can.

We get on a call, and by the end of it you know exactly what to do next.

Working on a large mandala
Finished dot art mandala
1

We plan it

Layout, layers, dot sizing, and how the pattern will resolve on your surface — before a single dot goes down.

2

We mix it

Your palette chosen and your paints mixed together on the call. You end the session ready to paint.

3

We paint it

Real time, side by side, at your pace. I catch the small things before they become the reason you stop.

4

You finish it

A final detail pass once the paint is dry. You end up with a piece on the wall, not one in a cupboard.

Take the whole piece, start to finish.

This is how the work actually happens, and it's how I'd recommend booking. One session gets you unstuck for an afternoon. The full arc gets you a finished piece — and there's a real difference between the two.

16 to 18-inch piece

Large Piece

Save $80 on booking the arc

The size most people never attempt alone — and the one that changes how you think about your own work. Going bigger than 18 inches? See below.

  • Design & planning session
  • Colour palette & paint mixing
  • Two 2-hour paint-alongs
  • Detail session to finish it properly

Want to go bigger?

We can work up to 48 inches together — that's the scale where a mandala stops being a craft project and becomes the thing people notice when they walk into your house. Bigger pieces simply need more time at the board, so we add paint-along sessions on top of the Large Piece package. I'll tell you how many when we plan it, before you commit to anything.

$140
per extra 2-hour session

Or book one session.

Sometimes you don't need the whole arc. You need forty minutes and a straight answer.

Feedback session

Bring a piece in progress, or a finished one you can't quite figure out. We talk through composition, spacing, and what to adjust next. The cheapest way to stop guessing.

$5030 minutes

Design & planning

We plan the piece before a single dot goes down. Come with a reference for the 60-minute session, or start from a blank page in 90.

$9560 min · $130 for 90

Colour palette & mixing

Choosing colours is where most people freeze. We pick your palette and mix your paints together, so you hang up ready to paint rather than ready to think about it.

$9560 min · $130 for 90

Paint-along

We paint together in real time, at your pace. Two hours on purpose — past that, focus drops and the work shows it.

$1702 hours

Detail session

The final pass that makes a piece sing. The paint has to be fully dry, so we do this at least a day after painting.

$9560 minutes
Two things worth knowing before you book

Paint-alongs are purely painting — come with your surface prepped and your paints already mixed, or you'll spend half the session getting ready. And every piece needs its detail pass a day or more later, once the paint is properly dry. Anything 12 inches and under takes one paint-along; 16 to 18 inches takes two; anything larger we map out together when we plan it.

How to book

There's no booking system for these — they're arranged by email so I can make sure you're booking the right thing before you pay for it.

If the link doesn't open your mail app, copy the address above. You can also DM @dots.by.lina on Instagram if that's easier.

Tell me these five things
  1. What you're working on. A photo is worth more than a paragraph — send one even if it's a mess, especially if it's a mess.
  2. The size and surface. A 10-inch wood round and a 24-inch canvas are very different conversations.
  3. Where you're stuck, or what you want to end up with. Either is a fine starting point.
  4. Which session or package you're leaning toward — or say you're not sure and I'll suggest one.
  5. Your time zone and roughly when you're free. I teach across a lot of time zones, so most things are workable.

I answer personally, usually within a day or two. If I don't think a session is the right spend for you, I'll say so and point you at the course that covers it instead.

Let's be honest

What's really stopping you?

Every person who's now making beautiful dot art thought one of these things first.

"I'm not artistic. I never have been."

Dot art doesn't need artistic talent. It needs patience and a stylus. If you can hold a pen, you can do this. Students say it every time: "I can't believe I made that."

"I don't have time for a hobby."

The lessons run 5 to 20 minutes. Students fit them in before the house wakes up, during lunch, after the kids go to bed. It's not about finding time — it's about finally using some of it for yourself.

"I've started hobbies before and quit."

Most hobbies have a long frustrating curve before anything looks good. Dot art looks beautiful from the very first session. That's what makes people come back.

"Maybe I'm too old to start something new."

Most of Lina's students are 40 to 65+. This is genuinely one of the best moments in life to start — more patience, more appreciation for quiet, more desire for something that's just yours.

Questions?

A few things people ask.

Which should I start with? +
If you've never dotted, the free intro course, then Level 1. If you already dot and one specific thing is frustrating you, pick the mini course that matches it. If the problem is a particular piece rather than a technique, book a one-on-one session.
What's the difference between the levels and the mini courses? +
The four levels are a progression — each one builds on the last, and together they take you from your first dot to large wall pieces. The mini courses are standalone deep dives on one topic. You can take a mini course at any point, whether you're on Level 1 or long past it.
Are the courses live? +
The courses and mini courses are all pre-recorded and fully self-paced — nothing to schedule, watch whenever, rewatch as often as you like. Only the one-on-one sessions are live, and those are booked around your schedule.
How much do I need to spend on tools? +
Under $10 to start. A basic set of dotting tools costs under $5, and DecoArt Americana paint starts around $1. You only need three colors to begin: white, black, and one you love.
Do I need a course before booking a 1:1 session? +
No, but the sessions work best if you've already got some dotting under your belt. They're built around your piece and your questions rather than teaching fundamentals — if you're brand new, Level 1 will get you much further for the money.
How long do I have access? +
Forever. Permanent access to every course you buy, including any future updates or additions.
Can I sell the pieces I make? +
Yes. Any mandala you create is completely yours. Lina only asks that you don't present the designs as your own originals.
Do you offer refunds? +
There's a 7-day refund window on courses, provided most lessons remain unopened. Questions before you buy? Email hello@dotsbylina.com or DM @Dots.by.Lina on Instagram — Lina is always happy to chat.
