Charred Ash Wood Tealight Holder
Our last tealight class of the year, and a little different. We work a 6-inch charred ash wood holder with both dotting tools and brushes, so you get the crisp precision of dots alongside the softer flow of brushstrokes. The charring gives the surface a depth nothing else has, and when you slip a lit tealight inside at the end, the whole piece comes alive.

The Little Pumpkin Project
A cozy fall workshop, right on time for the season. We dot a small resin pumpkin, adding your own colours, patterns and details until it's completely your own. The perfect handmade touch for a Thanksgiving table or a mantel. No experience needed, every supply provided.

The Giant Mushroom Project
Our most-loved project is back, and this time it's bigger. We dot a 5.5-inch wooden mushroom, cap and stem, into a little sculpture that looks like it wandered out of a storybook. More room than ever to play with colour and pattern, whether you go bright and whimsical or soft and earthy.

Dotting 102: Brushstroke Mandalas
You've mastered the dots. Now let's make them dance. Building on rigger and liner brush technique, we create layered petals, sweeping curves, and the delicate details that make a piece look advanced. Best if you've done a little dotting or brushwork before and are ready for the next step.
One day. One mirror. One piece you'll keep for years.
We spend an unhurried day dotting an intricate mandala around a mirror. A whole day together means we go deeper than any regular class allows: layering, symmetry, colour flow, and the quiet focused rhythm that makes dot art feel like meditation. You'll leave with a statement piece for your wall and the particular calm that comes from a day spent entirely on one thing.
Fourteen seats, and they tend to go quickly. Booking runs through the studio for now.

Every tool, brush and paint is provided. Just bring yourself, and maybe a friend.

Total beginners are my favourite. I guide every step and we go at your pace.

My home base, and where most classes happen. Long wooden tables, light that's actually right for close work, and a full coffee bar and cocktails if you'd like something in your hand while you dot. A few times a year I pop up at other studios around Sacramento too, and those are listed above when they come around.

I'm Lina West, a Ukrainian-born artist living in Northern California, a Certified Art Therapy Practitioner, and I've taught over 1,000 students online across 30+ countries. But nothing compares to being in the room with you, watching the moment a beginner realises they can actually do this.
My classes are calm, unhurried and warm. Come on your own for some quiet, or bring a friend and make an afternoon of it. Either way you'll leave with something beautiful and the surprising feeling that a few hours of dots changed your whole day.
